Although the Mountains of the Wehrmacht and the SS, which are better known to us under the nickname “Black Edelweiss”, were used for its intense purpose, first -class preparation, morale and willingness to fight in any, most difficult conditions made them an extremely dangerous opponent.
The author of this book, a veteran of the SS Mountain Rifle Division “Nord” (6 SS-Gebirgs-Divsion “Nord”), knew firsthand what war on the Eastern Front is: severe frosts in winter, mud and mosquitoes in the summer, endless battles, severe losses.
