This volume continues the publication of the works of G.G. Shpet. It included the first part of the book “Essay on the Development of Russian Philosophy”, published by Spet in 1922. The text of the “essay” was re -prepared according to the manuscripts of the OR RGB (f. 718) and the family archive, who is on the storage of his daughter M.G.Storkh and granddaughter E.V. Pasternak. The book was written by Spet in 1922 – during the period of fateful choice for Russia and Russian philosophical culture. The philosophical and historical experience of Spet and his personal experience of experiencing this time, embodied in the “essay” and in archival preparatory materials for it, is extremely relevant for us today. In this book, a living evidence of time, the process of forming historical and cultural consciousness and the difficult experience of maintaining cultural thought in Russia is captured.
