Nathan Zlotnikov was always surrounded by creative youth – for more than a quarter of a century he led the poetic department of the magazine “Youth”. Opening other poets, supporting talented authors, he remained in the shadow of those whom he put forward for a long time. But he himself “grew up, relying on all those poets whom he loved and printed” (Evgeny Yevtushenko). And he grew up in a large lyrical poet, the “handwriting” of which is a testimony of talent, sensitive conscience, love of life. The book includes selected poems for many years. “However, why exactly these lines, and not others? Is the chosen ones always the best?” – To this demanding question that Nathan Zlotnikov turned to himself, the reader will now answer.
