The place of the Polish writer Genrik Senkevich in the world literature determined the novels “Fire and Sword”, “Flood”, “Pan Volodyevsky” and “Crusaders”, dedicated to turning events in the history of his homeland.
The novel “Kamo is a duck” stands apart in the work of Senkevich – in it the writer turns to the distant era of the reign of Emperor Nero and the formation of Christianity. The tense plot, the tragic love of the beautiful daughter of the King of the Listines and the young Patricia Mark Vinitius, the vivid pictures of the life of ancient Rome, mired in vices, still attract the attention of readers. In 1905, the Nobel Prize was awarded the novel “Quo Vadis” to Henrik Senkevich.
