We come to the temple as the house of God, according to the word of the Lord: “Come to me all the working and burdened …” (Matthew 11, 28), to turn to the Lord of this house with my prayers and petitions: “And I, according to your mercy, will enter your house, I will bow to your holy temple in your fear” (Psalm 5.8).
Saint Filaret of Moscow said that it is not a man himself who creates and devotes the temple to God and God himself gives his temple to man. The birth of a temple is the birth of a shrine, coming to which people touch God, to the Church of heaven through the sacraments and rites of the earthly church. Therefore, the consecration of a place for the temple is in commemoration of the fact that at this place not only the construction of the building is performed, but the arrangement of the house of God.
